Most of us do not realise how liberating it is to heal.
I'm not talking just about healing our physical being, healing must take place in our emotional/mental selves, and spiritual selves as well. The reason why most of us do not see the importance of healing our other mental, emotional and spiritual being is because we do not see how limited we really are without healing.
When we are physically injured or when we are ill, we are so aware that our movements are limited. Our choices in what we can eat, or what we can do are also very limited. Our limitations are in our face.
But when we are mentally or emotionally "injured" we are not so aware of it, let alone be pro-active in healing from them. Because we have learned to shut up, and not talk about, so we spend our lives stuffing our issues down.
Or we could go to the other extreme of being aware of how much of a victim we have become in certain situations, that all we do is talk about it, without truly understanding the core issue. And so there is no incentive to want to seek any healing from it, because it is more comfortable to be a victim.
This is why most people carry the extra baggage of their stuff with them and on them.
Some of the emotional pains/baggage comes from childhood, sometimes these things happen just for a few minutes but it scars us for life. Other sources of the baggage we carry around with us may come from loss, grief, anger, sadness, helplessness, loneliness, or being unsafe/unprotected, and abuse.
And so we carry these things around, which create blind spots, and we push things further down in the shadows and our minds are locked in a narrow perspective, giving us a world view that just does not take us far.
We limit our ability to see opportunities, we limit our ability to access both inner and outer resources, we limit our ability to create because we have frozen our minds and emotions. And so it feels/looks as if we do not have any choice. In a sense, that is true, when we are frozen we do not have a choice.
But we HAVE a choice to heal. And it is our responsibility to seek healing on any level, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.
Some of us may think we do not have any baggage or issues, maybe it is time to just be honest with ourself for a start, it is time to stop running because the extra weight is not going to take us far.
If we feel life is unfair to us, and that we do not always have choices, think about how unfair we have been to ourself, for not taking the first step to heal.
