Your Lower Ego Is Like An Unhealthy Fattening Cheese Cake

Uncategorized Jun 24, 2019

Last week, we talked about how procrastination is instigated by the lower ego, and how we need to make a choice between the higher and lower ego.

Now, intuitively it seems as if the logical way to go about things is to suppress or try to kill the lower ego. To completely get rid of it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. We need to be counter-intuitive in how we deal with the lower ego.

The lower ego is a mass consciousness. It is controlled by the masses, and as long as we live in this world, the lower ego consciousness will always be around. And as one person against the lower ego, it would be impossible to squash, suppress or kill it.

We just got to treat the lower ego like an unhealthy fattening cheesecake! (Or any other unhealthy food, habit, that you like). You know it exists, but it does not mean you got to choose it. You know it is there, but you make another choice. A healthier choice.

So every day we get bombarded by the temptation of the lower ego cheesecake. And if we learn to just say no to it, often enough, it will get easier and easier to make the better choice.

This is why in almost all religions, we are taught that it is not the person that we judge, but the behaviour of the person that we need to critique. Because bad behaviour is the thing that causes us the pain, the anxiety, the guilt, the depression and so on.

In the next few weeks, I like to talk more about some of our behaviours, actions, thoughts, feelings and so on, and which one of them are from the lower ego and which are not! I think this is the most tricky of them all to know and understand. We need to know so that we are equipped with the right knowledge to make a better choice.

In the meantime, you don’t have to go around destroying all the unhealthy lower ego cake, you just need to choose not to eat it!
